I'm just a cross hair, I'm just a shot away from you.

Bang bang, he shot me down..

I've recently been experimenting with the usage of a Vindicare Assassin in my recent games, and he's been such a fire magnet he barely survives past Turn 3. Still, as a Tank-Buster extraordinaire, for 145 points he's a real bargain in terms of psychological value as well as providing results in each turn he's able to shoot both 36" long range and 12" off-hip with his pistol, thanks to the Turbo-Penetrator ammo.

The model of the left was one I had bought yonks ago and have now sold off to a lucky buyer on Ecstasy Bay, replaced with the newerer model to the right, also purchased off said site. I've put some touch-ups on the model, such as adding a dash of green Ork blood through the skull, highlighting the bullets and grenades.

For some real fun, variety and the sheer tension of it all for your Grey Knight games, I approve of the Vindicare!

Modelling Rules Counters

Taste the rainbow.

Following on from the theme of making one's owns wound counters from my last post, I've taken things further and used a bunch of spare 25mm counters to make my own rules counters/markers, to mark things out like crew shaken, crew stunned, etc, vehicle damage results, as every 40k player knows well that's hard to keep track of these things during the heat of the battle!

Grey Knight Wound Counters

Years ago I had worked up some 'wound counters' for use in my Imperial Guard games against the forces of Wednesday Night Gaming, as a means of keeping track of how many wounds were left on characters during games. I used leftover Guard bits e.g. arms, lasguns, helmets, and my favourite, a hand still gripping a grenade, painted up onto 25mm counters, to provide a fun and fluffy way to do this. I never did take any photos of these, so you'll have to take my word for it!

Sadly, as my Grey Knight army is taking up all my attention these days I thought it appropriate to provide army-specific wound counters for my White Knights, so the above photograph is the result.

Mid-week chuckle!

Perhaps someone, somewhere, will come up with a 40K version?

In The Grimdark Future, There Is Only BBC...

Hobby-related article on the BBC website today with a complementary blogpost by the journalist on her own blog.

BBC: Why are grown men still launching tabletop war?
Samira Ahmed: Something Warhammer This Way Comes

Great for a chuckle, especially the almost 200+ comments (inc. some by a certain Mr. Priestley). Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Mashed-up logo, clearly mangled beyond recognition, worked up without permission.

Dreadnought: Re/Conditioned

One of my earliest GK purchases was a disused Forgeworld GK Dreadnought, which was basecoated black and had a weird, mottled green and white camouflaged colour scheme, a real fixxer-upper. Yuck!

Wotan’s Night Campaign – Second Tier Report

The second Tier of our campaign has commenced, and the 3 of us have progressed on nicely playing the mission and deployment type: Seize Ground & Dawn of War, at 800 point each, and took along our Veterans from the previous tier in the ongoing battle of Wotan’s Night.
